Yakov Smirnoff is a comedian and actor who rose to fame a few years after moving to the United States from the Soviet Union in the 1970s. He began his stand-up career in the 1970s and landed his debut film role in the 1984 movie Moscow on the Hudson. Since then, he has appeared in a variety of films such as The Money Pit, Brewster’s Millions and more.
